Columbia Baptist Church
was founded in 1788
by Colonel Benjamin Stites
and was the first protestant church built in the Northwest Territory. Columbia Baptist declined near the turn of the century and the original church was demolished in 1837.
However, in 1865 the church was rebuilt on Eastern Avenue where it still stands today.
